I do like the noise of my new manifold and exhaust BUT during fitting had problems with the manifold , the fit was poor and the manifold blew through the gasket (loud ticking noise), also the u bend is wrong throwing out the exhaust. Had to cut, move and re weld one of the arms on the exhaust to get it onto the car…having to do this to 1900 system seems very wrong but persisted never the less. After another session in the workshop still couldn’t stop the blowing and the re working of the exhaust arm has proved a waste of time as the pipes don’t come through the diffuser properly, kind of half in half out and rammed so hard up against the chassis by the manifold there is no room to move them. The manifold is being sent back to Quicksilver to be checked before I receive a replacement…they don’t believe me
Will Quicksilver send me a replacement 1000 manifold???
Should I ask for a replacement new Ultra light 800 exhaust as well???
Am I p155ed off and wishing I’d of gone to JV at 2bular ???
Will I get looked after by Quicksilver???
Will I make Donnington on the 27th Feb???
Be carefull what you use on the S if you want to track it, I have tried several and ended up with the largest Jim could make to get it quiet enough for Bedford with a sports cat fitted to.
I am going to tune with the std. system before moving on to the aftermarket ones. Will be interesting to test the performance and log the noise levels.
What DB’s were the various systems putting out on yours?
Standard Car
I’m sure a wheezing mouse was louder…
With 7x18" oval tip and sports cat (2bular) Well I was never tested but to say load would be putting it mildly, I went to rocking and basicly all you could hear was my car!!!
With a 7x24" twin outlet and sports cat (2bular) it was 88.2db driveby at Bedford but the noise police there are bad generally, I think it was actually a bit noisier as I was the only person black flagged all day, the wind was blowing in the right direction?
Now on an 8x24 GT3 Style and sports cat (2bular) I’ve not been tested yet, however it is much quieter, so as the HP goes up I still should be ok…
Thanks Damon will post it all on here…Have asked if Q/silver can re work the exhaust arm as well now, I know I cut it but I tried to work with the manifold problems rather then just send it straight back and all (all else failing that is), I’m asking if they’ll work with me! However, it does LOOK really good and it does indeed sound the business! Just be a BL**DY shame to get lumbered with 2k worth of pipe from zero customer care but I’m sure it’ll not come to that! Good or bad the customer care, both will be reported!
I plan by the way to purchase a second noise friendlier exhaust custom made by Jim V (2bular) for tracks such as Bedford or Donnington. He is ultra helpful, his passion for what he does is more than enough to guarantee his work.
I’m designing (I do that sort of thing ) a quick release system, changing from one to the other should take less than 10mins or so, will post more on that later in the year.
Did you buy direct or from reseller. If reseller I’d expect them to be handling it. Either way it sounds like something has gone wrong in the manufacturing process.
Is the Quicksilver considered louder than the 2ublar systems?
I couldn’t say if it’s louder or not but Jim will cater for all.
The reseller (who I have the greatest of respect for and do not blame) should and have, they went out of there way to view the car. I had contacted with Q/S just after install so as far as I am concerned dialogue is open. I need it back as soon as (have a track day to get to ) so cutting a few corners.
I had a chat with the parts guy at Christoper Neil yesterday re the Quicksilver and he said they have not had install problems.
Maybe give them a call to discuss your issues.
I am going to look at the sport cats and back box when mapping my S. I will also get a 2bular system to compare against and do dyno runs of both to gather data
All is well, manifold now fits and gone is the ticking! Had to jiggle the exhaust a bit but that now fits too and the weld was repaired. The noise is quite excellent, the cam change is violent and the power increase noticable (along with the ITG & reflash) I’m one happy chappy despite the fact it’s taken almost 7 weeks (inc Xmas) Quicksilver did the job!
It’s off again…done three track days and hardly any road miles! The exhaust sits at and awkward angle (worse when hot) because the manifolds out which has resulted in burning my c/f diffuser. The rubber grommit that sits under the metal band holding the thing together has completely burnt away as has the packing inside should it do, don’t bl**dy think so! If your thinking of buying one don’t it’s a piece sh1t3! And freakin expensive too! I’m going back to Quicksilver…
