My elise is currently garaged and when I went to check on her today, I noticed a few air bubbles under the alcantara tissue next to the binnacle cover.
I suppose they are coming from the moisture?
I succeeded in flattening the surface a bit, but I am a bit worried…
What can I do to prevent this from happening?
Is there any product on the market which absorbs the humidity?
Has anyone else had this problem?
Mine did this after being left in a cold garage, a quick blast on the effected spot with a hairdryer tightened it up.
Could be an idea to leave some silica gel or something in the car. I was going to make sure it didn’t get too cold, as that is what appears to have triggered it.
JBS, mine has blown in the same place. My local dealer has acknowledged the issue and has ordered a replacement - usual story ‘they are on back order’!
if this problem is covered under warranty then I guess I am happy again!
I will ask the local dealer tomorrow. Can I tell him that it is because of the humidity in my garage, or not?
I am finding that Lotus ownership is based on the dealers expecting you to put up with the quality that can be expected from a ‘cottage industry’.
I have never paid so much for so little car and it is only the occasional thrill of driving on dry roads that keeps me going.
The car went into the dealers before Christmas for a number of issues and on collection I was told that the rattle from the dash would be fixed when the new dash top arrived, as Lotus would not pay for the dash to be removed twice - unbelievable.
I would insist that the dash top is replaced and as to where the car has been stored should make no odds.
