Quandry!!!

I am at a bit of a cross-roads regarding which way to go with an Elise/Exige S2 purchase given the same budget…

a: Buy a S2 ‘111s’ or ‘S’ and then spend 2K ish on suspension/brake etc upgrades or:

b: For the same total money buy the more expensive and ‘on paper faster’ S2 ‘111R’/Exige but then have to leave the suspension/brakes etc standard… (for a while!!!)

I have driven both… the ‘111R’/Exige feels much more urgent and seems quicker, wheras the 111s and ‘S’ still both feel quick but in a smoother way. I reckon on normal ‘road’ driving there would not be a lot in it???

Opinions would be most welcome.

Pete.

my money would be on the 111s with a cr box and a good geo set up, lighten the car as much as you can and I don’t think you will go far wrong!

I’d say it depends on how many miles and the ratio of road and track you will do. The Toyota cars are more reliable and a much nicer place to be IMO.

More scope with the toyota for future mods without going down the transplant route.

2nd hand katana then wait and get a cheap set of exige wheels and some 2nd hand nitrons

Why are you selling these items, Ade?

might upgrade my nitrons next year as I want stiffer springs and I’m close to the limit of the valving on mine, I won’t be selling my wheels though…

Did Mike Wilds drive your car at Oulton?

no sadly, would like him to next time to see what he thinks of the set up.

What do you need stiffer springs for? Your car looked pretty FLAT through the corners compared to some to me.
Seriously though, what spring/arb are you running ATM?

I reckon that like me, you’d realise there’s nowt wrong with the car, it’s the peasant behind the wheel that needs “tuning”

PMSL @ Neil

Pesky, I uld not agree more, however, I think the vavling is wrong them anyway. I was one of the first to put nitrons on an S and I upped the spring rates to match the more lardy S. So it seems to have to run at -3 from full hard on track and -6 on the road to behave correctly.

As for spring ratesmine is running 450\575 and I have an elisparts roll bar one hole off full hard, the S1 bar like I have does not allow it to go full hard :frowning:

No reason really, except Mike Wilds, flat, & buggering about with Nitrons!
