Push Type Hydraulic Release Bearing (Clutch slave cylinder)

AP Racing makes them…

Tilton makes them…

Is anybody using them in place of the externally mounted clutch slave cylinder and leaver fork?

You guys running the Quaife or the standard C64 gearbox use the same bell housing…the part will fit either application.

I’d like to use one and was wondering which one you used and how you’ve mounted it.

Thanks…

Not used one, not seen the need. The standard external ones works fine, and if it leaks you don’t need to take the box out to change it.

Standard one on my car has done 114k and looks like its never been disturbed since 2004, so probably the original one.

OK…it does not fail… so why are you worried about having to remove the box if it never fails?

Other way around, the standard external one doesn’t seem to fail, but if it does, then its outside the box, so easy to get to.

The AP, Tilton and all the other internal ones fitted as OE to GM, VAG, PSA, etc fail. A lot. Usually before the clutch/gearbox needs removing anyway.

The standard one works fine, why invest time, effort, money, etc on fitting something that appears to be a step backwards? Arguably there may be a slightly better feel to the pedal, but I suspect it may be marginal.

If it is a step backwards, why is the new V6 Exige fitted with one? Look…I’m looking for help/information…not an argument…If you can’t answer the question…#@$!%!&

Congratulations bud you found it,…and from the acknowledged font of knowledge and experience on our cars.

Sorry, thought I was being helpful and giving you some relevant information as to why no one has gone to the effort.

Let us know when it’s done. And how many times you had to remove/refit the gearbox to get it to work.

And when it gets to 114k/10+ years old, without being changed, we can call it an improvement.

Ben and Dave’s type 9 style sadev uses an AP.

Failing to see what you’re solving

But isn’t a Sadev a bespoke gearbox or does it use the Toyota bell housing? If it uses the Toyota Bell housing, then this is valid information… but now AP Racing makes at least 2 different Cylinders…and how is it mounted?

MY Sadev is in my Caterham R300.

If that Sadev doesn’t need to come out for a rebuild in 10years/114k miles I’ll be properly happy

yeah as I say it’s a type 9 gearbox

you planning on running a 184mm clutch?

also the challenge would be the mounting, as the forces on the stock box are pivoted on the nub on the right hand side.

Ap style would need a mounting face and bosses.

I’m looking at running this…

Seems excessive to me…

Not totally relevant info but I have run my S1 racer on a multi plate race clutch for over 10 years now and it’s always been on the standard Rover PG1 slave cylinder and release lever/fork, I got a spacer to attach onto the standard plastic clip on release bearing carrier so that I could exchange just the bearing itself for the correct AP one required by the clutch.
