Other way around, the standard external one doesn’t seem to fail, but if it does, then its outside the box, so easy to get to.
The AP, Tilton and all the other internal ones fitted as OE to GM, VAG, PSA, etc fail. A lot. Usually before the clutch/gearbox needs removing anyway.
The standard one works fine, why invest time, effort, money, etc on fitting something that appears to be a step backwards? Arguably there may be a slightly better feel to the pedal, but I suspect it may be marginal.
If it is a step backwards, why is the new V6 Exige fitted with one? Look…I’m looking for help/information…not an argument…If you can’t answer the question…#@$!%!&
But isn’t a Sadev a bespoke gearbox or does it use the Toyota bell housing? If it uses the Toyota Bell housing, then this is valid information… but now AP Racing makes at least 2 different Cylinders…and how is it mounted?
Not totally relevant info but I have run my S1 racer on a multi plate race clutch for over 10 years now and it’s always been on the standard Rover PG1 slave cylinder and release lever/fork, I got a spacer to attach onto the standard plastic clip on release bearing carrier so that I could exchange just the bearing itself for the correct AP one required by the clutch.
