Hello, Just a quick note after reading soe of the posts here. You all sound like myself on some of the Corvette Boards ( I am a bona fide Yank). After learning that America’s “Sportscar” was to be fitted with heated seats, and Navigation I wanted to sell Buicks (puke).
I wish we were getting the full on ripped up Exige you all have been able to enjoy for so long. Sadly we (the american buyer) may be that cause for the softening of the S2 elise/exige. Just to let you all know I think is sux as much as you do. That being said I am buying an Exige as soon as it hits our shore because it is the closest thing I can get to a true sports car on this side of the pond.
So not all of us are “Punters” (new phrase to me - but I get the gist) but I am certianly happy to have the “little” Lotus headed our way.
Sam
P.S. If anyone is from the US and looking for a slightly “Loved” C5 corvette with very few track miles I may have a lead…
As soon as we (The US) get word that we are really getting one I am placing a deposit (Then waiting like every other goober on this side of the pond).
My brother has an Espirit and that car has afforded me the oppurutinity to score a ride in a 190 elise (Club Events). It was a lot of fun on the track. I finally understood what they (the instructors) meant when they said that racing was the most fun you could have with your clothes on! After battling a 3300 pound Corvette around a 1.5 mile road course, lighter weight cars make a lot of sense.
The only beef is that in the US those cars are not Street Legal, not even close.
We are all sitting on our hands waiting for the S2’s to arrive.
I think I will have the Chevy for one more driving season then be able to take delivery an Exige.
