Proxes T1-R's

I was told that…
The 'R’s have more tread (rubber) on the outer edges to beef them up as the 'S’s would wear much more in heavey cornering, in particular track days. The 'R’s superceed the ‘S’ I understand although both are available still

And I agree… for a heavier car!
I have seen how the T1S’s can be even too soft for a TVR but then it’s much heavier.

We need soft tyres.

I think he said the R’s are a standard fit now on new Trevors and have TVR stamped on like the LTS Yokos? Or I imagined the whole thing and should leave off those funny little mushys from the park???

PS - the chaps who fitted them told me the treadwear rating of the 048’s at 60 is about the softest available for the road. The proxes are - wait for it - 280!!!

BTW, do you know how he found this out? Do you know if it is printed anywhere on the tyre?

Ian

indeedy from memory it says ‘treadwear 60’ on the sidewall, the letters are about 3mm tall?

I have to admit I had never noticed it b4

I have Proxes R-888s on my 306GTI and they are pretty near to 048s–.

Do you know what their UTQG (as I have discovered it’s called) treadwear rating is? Which I guess maybe on the tyre.

Ian

nothing in the Toyo catalogue (yes im sad enough to have picked one up in the shop) and nothing on the web site.

I’ll try and find out from the shop

how much of a saddo am I?? - I had a look at my ‘trackday set’ (048’s) and its only printed on one side of the tyre.

In an increasing level of sadness I checked out the ‘Falcons’ on the MR2 - treadwear 380!!! Hewn from the finest granite!!!

Yeah, I’m sad too then.

I looked and noticed the rears said AA traction, haven’t checked the fronts yet, but I think the website said just A for traction, so perhaps that’s the medium hard thing for the fronts.
