Morning guys, i’ve had a problem now for a few weeks where i find it difficult to select reverse once the car has warmed up. Totally fine first thing when i start the car up. Any ideas what it can be? gear linkage, clutch? The car has done 25k now (54 plate car), but leads a fairly easy life, not been tracked since i’ve had it
Thanks in advance.
It does sound like the clutch is not dissengaging correctly,if you select 1st then try reverse does it go in ok? Is it crunching when you try?
Thanks Ade, not tried selecting 1st then reverse as the car is not moving before i reverse but will give this a go next time it happens (didn’t think of trying this before D’oh!). With regards to crunching- no defo not and all other gears are perfect.
Edit to add when trying reverse does not feel right, like trying to push it across then up has no purposeful direction to it
Ah sounds more like an alignment issue then, you need to find someone suitable who knows how to sdjust the linkage.
I would of said linkage adjustment. There are adjusters at both the linkage gearbox and lever end. It’s not a hard job, but can take a little while to get really nice.
Sean…
Cheers SeanB, i’ll drop it into the garage and get them to take a look at it. hopefully nothing more than the linkage which you and Ade think it is.
Thanks once again
