power...

There are some folks here with 300hp and more. Is it still fun to drive ? more fun ? less fun ?

I have a full plan of approach to get my Duratec 2.0 conversion with 160 hp, turbocharged to 250hp and later with forged engine to 350hp.

In doubt as 260hp without supercharger or turbo might make more sense. However, sense is not always more fun

So my car used to be 212@hubs in N/A form and is now 329@hubs with the blower on it and tips the scales at just around 830KG wet.

The N/A side was fun, and it would be nice to have a blast in a dry sumped ITBs screamer, however the blower makes such linear power. It’s scary quick, however you really need it to be linear to use the power.

Yes linear would be the key focus.

The dyno should look something like this. Not really linear.

I would opt for a SC but there is no room on the Duratec install in a Elise/Exige. Komotec did it but placed the SC on the drivers side beam, so not directly on the engine.

Ah in that case I’d stay N/A and get a SBDev kit for it

602bhp here, cant knock it.

What gearbox are you running?
I’m currently at 262@hubs. The 'box has a full Kaaz set plus oil cooler… I would love a bit more power but concerned I’d blow the gearbox.

Currently its a hoot but more power is always good - right?

My wish list would be

  1. More talent
  2. More power
  3. Daily driver road ready sequential

Honda K20 with it’s native box.

IMHO 260 is plenty enough for the road & some track use. I certainly enjoyed the increase over the 240 start point in my case. Having moved on to 345 in the Evora this too is plenty for the road and similar in the subjective real word to 260 in an S2 Exige.

Any more will lead to much restraint or a visit from the rozzers :lolno:

I have just had the 260 upgrade carried out and its more than enough for the road. Cant wait till my next track day to see what it’s like on there

I still haven’t managed to get a pax after your upgrade… must try harder to meet up… when I’m not busy

It will be worth the wait quite a big difference, definitely something I’m going to get done to mine later on this year.

Tues night at the pub

260 kit and 2bular exhaust transformed my car

I’m half way have 2bular manifold and sports cat so far.

A good manifold transforms the sound as well as giving useful torque … a must do mod imo

Quick update and a topic kick.

I bought a 2.5 Duratec that gets some aftermarket cams that will put out somewhere near 220 to 230hp and 235nm at the wheels. +/- 180nm starting at 2000rpm. Redline at 7k. ( Have an over the subframe non-cat exhaust 4-2-1 2.5" , Jenvey ITB’s , Emerald, etc.)
Also bought a plated LSD from Elite transmissions. Will put that in a CR box.

If I get bored I will turbocharge it.
