Poweflex engine mount inserts

Not sure if it’s been mentioned on here or not but just in case…

Fitted a set of these today, front and rear mounts for 40 from Larkspeed on eBay. Not the easiest of jobs, bit fiddly, but well worth the time and effort.

The only downside is there is a little more vibration at idle. Anything above 1K rpm it’s not noticeable and even at idle when the engine is warm it’s only fractionally more than stock.

The upsides are in three areas.

Firstly the gear change is definitely improved. Changes from first to reverse and back again when parking seem a lot smoother. High speed red-line changes are far better. The car doesn’t rock back and forth and the gear change itself is far more positive. I’d say a 50% improvement.

Secondly cornering is significantly more stable. On a tight set of corners the car feels a lot smoother and much tighter overall.

The car also feels more stable under braking. Yet to try it on track but fast road braking it feels much better.

For the money it has to be just about the best upgrade I’ve done.

We fitted these a little while ago and there is definitely a noticeable improvement can’t recommend enough

They are great, i’ve had mine for about 6 months, the only downside is a little bit more vibration on idle.

My engine mounts have been modifed instead of the powerflex bushes and one problem I’ve had is the car juddering when pulling away at a standstill - drives me mad!

Have any of you guys experienced this? I’m thinking of swapping the mounts back to oem ones but with the powerflex buses to try and resolve.

Juddering is usually caused by the clutch, if I get mine wrong with the Excedy clutch there is a definate jolt rather than smooth progress. If you do have a bit of clutch judder it will be amplified by harsh engine mounts :frowning:

I originally thought it was the clutch, but I do think its because my engine mounts are that solid!

I should really just get a new clutch anyway.
