Chris, good to hear you are OK, Kieran and I were worried (lotus 22). I was 6 cars after you and had thought about taking that corner flat but decided not to after the incident. I have done a lot of circuit racing and was totally surprised at how hard a hill climb is. You are absolutely right about needing to be 100% from the start. In circuit racing you get a warm up lap to see the track condition/grip, no such luxury in a hill climb. To see drivers like you giving 100% was truly amazing.
Best of luck with getting the car back together, it looked wonderful in the paddock and I am sure you will return it to its former glory. I did not see the accident from the holding area but seeing the car come back down was hell of a shock, especially not knowing if you were OK.
I would definitely recommend going to a hill climb to watch. As a driver I think it would definitely sharpen first lap times!
Main thing is that youre OK and car is repairable.
I’m please you’re ok after that shunt & the car can be fixed. I do lack diplomacy at times, but look forward to seeing the car at a future trackday & I’ll say hello (& duck )
