Plumbed in Fire Extinguisher warning

Yesterday after a weeks work having repaired head gasket, radiator, leaking line lock, Logan’s car was finnaly ready for a dyno run, unfortunately nobody had told him they were working on the fuel regulator and he started the car to let it warm up, which it did very quickly. First thing he went for was the plumbed in fire system, done by me last week and it did not work. Luckily there were some others around the shop and damage was only rear glass cover and a mudguard, all no longer needed on my car so it is up and running again.

What had happened is he asked me to move his extinguisher to the battery area in the nose, where the blower unit would normally sit, I made sure cables and plumbing did not snag or take any sharp corners and there were no clearance issues and that cables were nice and tight before handing it over to him and reminding him to take the pin out. Unfortunately he had installed a new battery during this week and loosened the clamps on the extinguisher to move it out of the way and upon re assembly the handle ended up being positioned against the chassis so it would only pull about 1cm which did nothing. Luckily this time he got away with it but please guy’s ensure that if you have plumped in systems the handle has alot of clearance around it so that it does not get caught, also it could vibrate and move so check them regularly. Especially if yours is mounted in the nose.
