Plans Motorsport / Exiges.com "Stig Challenge"

As many of you know Plans Motorsport do driver training on the Top Gear circuit at our base near Guildford in Surrey.

see

http://www.plansmotorsport.com/training/

This has been popular with Exige owners, many of which post on here.

We had a couple of guys in yesterday and were talking about a “Stig Challenge”

So here it is…

Come down to plans, have an half and hour briefing, introduction to the track, one hours tuition and six timed laps of the Stig Circuit. This is the same format as the “star in the reasonable priced car”.

We post your user name (or other pseudonym if you’re bashful), the spec of your car, and your best time from the six laps.

The whole session is usually 199 but we will discount for exiges.com to 179 inc VAT.

Should make interesting reading about which cars are faster than others…

Stig times are

Exige S 1.25.1
Exige S2 1.26.4 (w)
Elsie S2 1.35.6

Our first runner under these arrangements (I won’t name them until they own up) ran yesterday.

In the small print we should say of course that this is nothing to do with the BBC or Top Gear.

I would be interested but can only do weekends would this be a prob?

For the immediate future, we cannot do weekends due to planning restrictions.

Best days are Monday, Tuesday or Friday. Sessions are either 08:30-10:30 or `15:30-17:30

cool idea… but you are so far away

Great idea Graham, is this open to just Lotus cars or will you let other makes have a bash. I know of a few fast cars that would jump at the chance .

Booked for the 1st august !!

How about the Aug bank holiday Monday? Otherwise I cant do it

I’d love to but am away on August bank hols… Great idea though and loads of fun!!! Anyone who makes it have a great time!

Open to non-Lotus? Well yes, but I’m not posting anywhere else at the momement as didn’t want demand to exceed supply.

We can ususally do any Monday, Tuesday and Friday, which means a maximum of six per week if we keep the one-on-one, only-car-on-the-circuit format which most people like (and also, keeps it exactly the same as the “Star” and the “Stig” laps… ie only car on the circuit and, after the tuition, the best of six counts)

Had an 135R S2 Elise do a 1.35.9 yesterday

Hello everyone!

I am the owner of said 135R and had a great time playing Stig! No laughing at my time please, I have a whole book of excuses at the ready!

I think this is a great idea with a lot of potential. I look forward to seeing everyones times an how they compare, looks like there’s some very quick cars on here

Max

IIRC the Elise S2 time quoted is a 111S

So maybe not too bad for a circuit which needs handling & power IMHO.

Tim.

PS Welcome

That time was in a monsoon - it was tipping down. I am pretty surea standard 111s could get under 1:30 in the dry.

Also worth noting Stig times are with only him in the car, whereas I had Graham from Plans sat next to me…

…told you I had the excuses ready!!

ps thanks for the welcome!!

If I remember rightly, Graham reckons 30kg equates to an extra second a lap round that track so with graham on board that must have cost you oh… at least 4 seconds!

might give that a try next time I visit Graham

LOL

graham, can i do mine when i pick my car up?

yes, (you might have to give me a clue who you are)

infact, may people do exactly this… ie book a session to see the difference we have made…

EVOSAL in 360(or was it more)bhp S1, which probably cost in the order of 30k, says:

Booked for the 1st august !!

Oh I can’t wait to see that time!

Ian

Just hoping my new super strengh driveshafts hold out (excuse no 1 )
