Hey folks,
My 1900 k series block has now been picked up from Scholar, looks brilliant. Pistons are to die for!
Can someone please advise me of correct assembly of rings and what the ring end gaps should be please?
Thanks in advance
Ben.

The only real problem is which way up the centre ring (dark grey cast iron ring), it is a napier scraper and the recess goes to the bottom. ring gaps will be pretty much as the stock rings except for the oil control ring which is a U-flex type and therefore runs effectively gapless.

Thanks very much for your help Dave.
Just one last question if I may, the top and second rings, should these be spaced at 180degress apart from each other (away from the thrust face??)
Thank you
Ben.
That’s what I always do… and it cant hurt…

G’day Dave,
That is interesting… Do not the rings ‘walk’ over time? I wonder if they would…
Given that most would do this, have you ever noticed the same orientation when you strip down an engine?
Flowed head is going great by the way! Do you happen to have any Champion RC6 YCC plugs about?
Pete.
Yes , they do walk in time, but it doesnt harm to stagger them for the initial startup when they re not yet bedded. The orientation is random when stripping.
I have no more RC6 YCC plugs I’m afraid…
Dave
If you still need plugs, you can get them from here for 2.81 each

Cheers Dave!
Any opinion about the NGK alternative (BCPR7ES?) or should I stick to the Champion?
The NGKs are widely used on Caterham R300s and R400s and are a good plug.
