Performance Figures

I’ve just had the UCR gearbox fitted. Got it back today from Nick Whales, and went for a run. Slightly worried that it might be too noisy. Everybody seems to think it’s too much for road use, but no, I LOVE IT. It really is the best mod I’ve done on the car. I know the Exige is all about corners, but we all like a bit of speed on the straights as well. For the first time, the car actually feels fast [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]It probably isn’t hugely quicker in the real world, but because you’re changing gears more often, and actually getting some proper use out of 4th and 5th gears, it really does feel quicker. As for the noise, I’ve got all the usual noisy bits (exhaust etc) and I can barely hear the gears. The extra revs don’t really make much difference to the sound, especially if you don’t spend much time on the motorway.I really do recommed this kit if you want to put a bit of extra sparkle into your driving experience. Don’t listen to the old fogies who say otherwise.

Forgot to mention I got passed by an M3 the first time I took it for a spin.

Not on a track you wouldn’t have. And who you calling an old fogie!Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

Ian, you’re right about the race track scenario. He wouldn’t have passed me on the road if it wasn’t dark and wet, and if he hadn’t been trying to shelter under my rear wing for the last mile [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/mad.gif[/image]I just slowed right down and pulled over to let him past. Then I spent the next couple of miles showing him how I could gain 20 yards through each corner [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]I know you’re not as old as Pesky, but you must be getting there if you think the UCR is too much [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]I actually rather fancy using the original final drive which would lower the overall gearing by another 6% or so [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] Shame about the 7 hours labour it would cost to try it.

[image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/shocked.gif[/image] I live in the south and have to drive my Exige way up north to find a decent track. Try doing that with a UCR - without your ears bleeding and having to stop for fuel at every petrol station. Otherwise I’m sold. Hahahahaha! Superb banter [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]

What’s wrong with bleeding ears?I find the increased fuel consumption helps to keep the weight down [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image] Less fuel in the tank, and less cash in the wallet [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]
