Harshness of ride, difficulty of egress ingress - I’m only 5ft 8 though.
– I’m 6ft & 102KG and can get in n out fine, bit close in the garage though.
Does it feel special enough as it’s only being used for fun - not my everyday car.
– This is what the Lotus does best, feels special at 30mph through richmond highstreet where other cars feel like minicabs.
how fast/slow is it in standard form - It’s model dependent I know.
– Depends, straight line speed isn’t amazing but enough to make you laugh. It’s the bends that you’ll love.
The car I am looking to buy is a 320bhp S2, but my ultimate goal for the car was to start with an elise or an NA exige and drop the audi 2.0 tfsi engine in it. It doesn’t make huge sense to do that to this particular car, but for the price, I can’t ignore that I could buy it and avoid the hassle.
– That’ll be fast as f**k, but over 300hp and the gearbox on toyota cars can get brittle. Mines a Lowly elise (I know I’m a party crasher here) but with a Honda K20 lump I’m slowly modding.
Only downside for me is I love to modify and this one may have had all the best bits done already.
– If you love to mod any lotus will keep you happy, however again once over 300hp things get expensive as you’re into built bottom ends and gearbox work. If you have the pockets for it, buy a base NA or 220 S and go see JSR for a Audi lump or Simon Scuffham for a Honda lump. Both will see you with a platform you can mod to hell n back.
Anyway, thats car dependent, so, for a test drive, I just want to gauge the feel of the car, the size the height, the scale, the weight, the quality, the ease of working on it, that kind of thing.
– I love working on mine, they’re simple cars and the quality of the aftermarket is great.
I think if I had deep pockets I’d be also looking at a europa street sleeper with big power.
