What is the general consenus of part availability going forward ?
Seeing on other forums people are having trouble getting parts from the factory.
I’ve been waiting for 3 weeks for a battery isolator bit and still no sign on when it’s going to arrive.
When they start building these 100K plus cars will they care about us S2 & S1 customers ?
For example will the LTS stamped Yoko’s still be made ?
Should I start worrying/stockpiling parts !!!
Go on abuse your car and stick a Cartek on it
There will always be a supply of parts … supply meets demand … but at what cost is the question ??
Trick is to foresee which parts will be like rocking horse shite and buy buy buy !
Just look at S1 clear engine covers ??
And rust free mk 2 escort shells for that matter
I guess a spare set of clocks would be a good investment …
As would a couple of ECU,s …
Things that are very expensive to imitate but are readily available today ??
What part on yer car would it be nigh on impossible to get made locally ??
I supose most of the carbon bits will be available from Reverie at some point so things like rear wing blades and front splitter should be fine.
Wheels should be fine and there’s always R888’s etc
Brakes are AP so again OK.
I supose with the Yota engine going out of production the various ancillaries worry me the most.
You’re right though on the electrical bits - Ecu’s, clocks etc.
If my engine goes bang I will be going down the Honda/Audi/Toyota V6 direction.
Is it time to cash in? If so what would you go for…I’m looking at 911’s. Or you hanging on to your car, do you think the value will hold? I dunno what to do, if I keep it and carry on modding then it may not be as appealing as keeping it original, but im bored of the performance…
bit of a quandary
Depends what you have, so many options for upgrades
Not much so far, stage 3, and a TRD, didnt know whether to go IC upgrade or remap with injectors… but then reading that production ceases this month, does that kill off the exige brand.
Not owned a 911 yet, or an M3 but M3 would carry on losing money quicker I think, GTR’s have come down though but TCO appears to be high. Lambos are still 60k for an 03/04
Avoid Lambo’s a friend of mine has one and recons his annual running costs excluding major service’s is about 8k a year 4mpg if driven hard
911 is a great car, but expensive to track, M3’s are affordable but you have to splash some cash on brakes to make them even half way sensible to track, there are loads of options for the Exige and as you say, the prices will probably steady a bit now and make them a good keeper
Exiges will be future classics. Series 1 > Series 2, but both will be.
I am hanging on to mine, it’s a keeper, irrespective of whether it will be a classic in 5 -10 - 20 years.
