I plan on buying one and although I live in london it will be garaged, however I am worried about it when I take it to friends. Do minor shunts from numpty parkers cause the clams to crack and split, or are they flexible to enough to just bend and scuff?
Toughie as it’s (front and back clam) a big old part to replace…and you can’t see sweet fa out the back window not forgetting the lack of power steering.
I had a badger run out in front of me and I scooped it up at about 15 mph. The badger ran off without leaving any insurance details but to be honest the damage was minimal. The Front Splitter just “popped off” a bit and was easily refitted and there was a tiny bit of crazing. So in my experience its been quite tough.
I was also going to fit a BMW park assist system that uses the foil rather than sensors. The advantage is that it can not be seen as it just sticks to the inside of the clam. However as I have used the car I haven’t found the need for it.
My worry was born from some penis drove into the wing of my Audi A3 the other night (no note natch’) and left me with a smear of black paint and a crease.
However my thoughts are now, this is why I have a ‘daily’ and in reality I’m not going to take the exige to wickes!
Seems to be a lot of nice cars with a lot of money in them that could be had with enough patience. There is a S1 Exige with a blown 2.2 K20a in it however might be a bit balls to the wall for a 1st lotus
