First job is to remove the rear undertray…second allen key…rounded off by garage that fitted a previous system  They did say they had a problem with one so left it out

One on right.

So what are my options? Drilling it out? Trying to take the top off the bolt and leave the remainder in? There are enough retaining bolts for this to be ok.

You could try to cut a slot in the allen bolt head with a junior hacksaw and then use a large suitable sized screwdriver or impact wrench to get it out. If worst comes to the worst try mouldgrips round it but be careful not to rub the jaws into the undertray.
The other hole run a tap through it as it has probably been cross threaded if put it with airtools…or just a dosey technician!

Just looked at mine and they are all standard 8mm bolts. Why have you got allen bolts?

Use an easi-out - you know, one of those lefthand spiral thingies that remove stubborn/broken bolts. I’ve used them very successfully on several rusted bolts on my S2. The combination of nyloc nuts and rust defeated spanners and allen key, but the easi-out worked fine.

he’s right, cut a flat head into mine with a Dremmel and still use it to this day! I have the same system mmm did you get the eliminator kit also…? Eer the 12th???

Thanks guys, need to by an extractor kit.

I’ll get my local garage to get it out tomorrow and buy a kit for future use.

This is an ongoing saga…now going with the OEM centre exit.
