over winter project...

following a trackday at Llandow last month a couple of niggles made themselves apparent, so it was decided to drop out the engine and box to change the clutch.
After a chat with darren (omex) we decided to-

-refinish the engine and box
-clutch and lightened flywheel
-new redesigned engine mounts and gear linkage

  • pro alloy charge cooler
-tidy up and clean the engine bay
  • wheel bearings
  • powder coat anything that can once it’s off
  • new windscreen
  • change the gearbox oil and engine oil

i’m sure there will be more to do as and when we come across it

Good work, Marc :sunglasses:

Nice work.

Nice one matey. What paint didi you use for the block and gearbox?

Looks like silver paint to me

lol Standard paint would just come off though with the heat

it is very high temp paint from Halfords.

Nice brackets to support that charger - I know a few people who could have done with that !

It does help being friends with an engineer

Very Cool matey!!!

osmond1 , just out of interest what did you use to replace the firewall heatshield? Got any details of it? Supplier?

I’ve replaced mine also, but just in case the material I’ve selected doesn’t do the best job (it was the best match I could find for OEM) I’d like some backup options

George, call me marc

Woolies – Trim, upholstery and fittings for Classic Cars i got mine from ebay, but it’s the same stuff.

Thanks Marc

charge cooler pre rad and radiator ready to go in–

new mounts–

engine back in–

Although it’s coming back out tomorrow so the mounts can all be treated then powder coated,
.
Also got the pipework through the cills for the charge cooler.

Looking good mate. However have a think about using both of the fans. The fan itself blocks a lot of the rad and at full hammer you are going to need all of the flow that you can get. When you are sitting in traffic ticking over I think you will find that one fan is enough to keep all of the temps under control.

I only run one fan and I know of quite a few other people that only run one fan as well.

Just a thought.

cheers sean, i’ll mention it to darren tomorrow

Ive only one fan on my Jackson setup and after sitting on the M6 for 3 hours a few weeks ago I can confirm 1 fan is just fine

That’s what Micheal used to say
