Out with Eagle in with Evora

I have to say its a dull car…

For 60k I could think of many better cars…for one I’d buy a nissan gtr.

Not a fat exige!

Ive got the horn good and proper! And its not just because I have enthusiastically grasped my steering wheel

I’ve been dooming and glooming about the Eagle/Evora for a while, but once anounced at 45K I thought perhaps I’d been wrong/unduely harsh. If the truth is nearer 60K, or even above, then they are truely knackered. As mentioned above that puts it in with the Nissan GTR and late model second hand 911s. You’d have to be a Europa owner to consider it. You can’t make a business for a 60K car out of brand loyalty when your base enthusiast is a sub 20K Elise owner. Particularly when launching your car in a “Credit crunch”

And re performance, did I read it was faster than an elise round the Nurburgring and more stable at high speed than an Exige. Do I read into that that it isn’t actually faster than an Exige round the Nurburgring just a bit more comfortable?

Nice looking car though, and really hoping to be proved wrong. Prays for a sub 45k price, and sub 8:00 Nurburgring time. Well Autocar are even quoting 8:12 for a FWD Renault, so fingers crossed.

What I don’t understand is how it weighs the same as a Cayman but presumably has a non-metal body?

We saw the car yesterday at the show and was mildly impressed (as in ‘its a new car’).
Orders were being taken yesterday and production they guestimate at about Feb/Mar 2009.

No one would indicate what level of specification the entry level would be.

Are there any piccies in the flesh so to speak floating around - these potatochop monstrosities are really putting me off.

I like some of the basic lines of it and <50k could really work for me.

Given what Lotus now charge for the Exige S new I guess any hope of the Evora coming out at 50k or less was a vain one. Shame because if they could keep the price keen I’m sure they’d sell by the bucketfull.

Did I hear right they’re limiting production to 2,000 units per year?

I can’t believe its as heavy as it is and only 280bhp. I mean a bloody scooby or evo would be quicker, plus if it is similiar to a Cayman in money and performance terms there is no contest IMO as the cayman will be infinetly better engineered.

I also can’t beleive what they manage to charge for a new Exige S.

How soon before the ‘tuners’ come out of the woodwork ?

I copyright ‘Gotham 325’

Johhnyfox is already looking for carbon bits etc

Johnboy

This may be of help.

now not so keen on its looks.

God that guy is boring.

God that guy is boring.

Good job then that you didn’t see the “live” unveiling of the car, which was broadcast online i.e. Mike Kimberley’s performance

Have to say the marketing has been total bobbins.

That website - jeso, they need shooting.

Is this place ‘www.exiges.com’ or

www.evora.net’???!!!

first 200 cars are 58k

any takers yet ?

as for the climate lol

tell Nisan that they have sold the first 900 UK cars and if you want new no chance till late 2010

Well as you are the man with the hot line direct to lotus accounts, it would seem - have they actually sold any of the first 200 places?

According to info posted on SELOC it seems they have sold between 150 & 160.

Read on SELOC that the first cars will have full options with only the paint colour as an option.

There’s talk of 65K - EEEKKKK !!!

Apparently everyone is trying to work the options out based on 45K base

I think I’ve sussed it out - the 20K pays for a 2nd hand S2

Apparently it’s 58k, the 65k from London Lotus who it seems have a reputation.

I told you it was 58k does no one read my posts
