OULTON TODAY!

A great day??? … Do YOKO do a SNOW TYRE!!

Nasty roads tonight… Hope you all got home safe…

Pete.

Thanks for asking Pete.

Twas damp & cold first thing ie very tricky track conditions, but dried out reasonably well between 10.30 & 11.30. Then it started raining, which then turned to sleet, making things extra/extra tricky, so lunch started early at around noon (instead of 1pm). At 12.15 there was a power cut, so the cafe couldn’t serve food, & to cap it all it then started snowing heavily!!! Fortunately, this only lasted for 3/4 hour or so, before the snow reverted back to sleet, then rain.

Weather picked up from about 1.30, & shortly after 2 the track was re-opened with everyone having to do 4 or 5 laps behind a pace car to shift the standing water. A couple of short light showers followed, with close of play happening at 4pm.

Personally, I only did 67 track miles today during 2 morning sessions, & 1 afternoon session (excl. the track clearing laps), & said farewell just after 3.30.

Obviously through choice I’d much prefer a dry day, however I’ve learnt to take a positive view of very wet days - always good to practice trying to drive smoothly, & as this was only my 2nd full trackday in the Exige this year (& since having the talent enhancer fitted), it was an opportunity to re-acquaint myself with the thrill of driving the thing. Most enjoyable, but lacking the bottle to have it dancing around!

It was really good to see some familiar faces again today - some out on track, & some just saying hello, eg SeanB, John Shorrocks, 6970K, LotusGray,Mrs LotusGray, NeilC, JFK, ChrisGT, Pegbox, MarcP, Tom, SimonK, Irish Paul (saw your car, but not you?) the Lambogenie crew & their customers, a couple of Norloggers, & of course the fantastic bunch of Scottish Lotus/Ariel owners (nutters!) on one of their epic sojourns into the civilised world, south of Hadrian’s Wall.

In summary, another bloody good day out with like minded peeps

Twas quite a good day. Managed to drive to and from the circuit and get about 2 hours tracktime on one tank of petrol (just)
I decided to try and work on turning the car just using the accelerator which worked in some corners better than others.
I think it might be my last one of the year though, i’m getting fed up with standing about in the rain (S2 driver).
Apart from brands next week.
Or if I can get some winter wheels/tires.

Sorry to hear it was not a great day for weather I was supposed to be there but the car was not ready so no go

Sorry you missed it Jamie, your skiing expertise would have stood you in good stead!

I am sure I will see you around next year. I heard there were a few crashes too.

Don’t believe everything McApe says

There were a few incidents, but I only saw one car (Elise) with a generous helping of tank tape. Perhaps there were others, I don’t know? There appeared to be plenty of offtrack excursions though, & a certain barefooted Elise driver was blackflagged much to his indignation though, as he protested it was a stich up by the FIA (ask him about it for a laugh )

what a fantastic day. Good to catch up Pesky, its been a long time.

I thouroughly enjoyed the wet, as it meant all the honda’s and SC honda’s couldnt piss on my parade. In fact, i think the only Honda i didnt overtake was you Pesky. Must try harder next time

Perhaps if we’d been on track at the same time…

Always great to see you mate, your enthusiasm for driving/enjoying yourself is infectious - & I personally thank you for that

Here’s a pic of Sooty doing an incantation to the Snow God, so you Jocks could feel at home:

Planned an outing to catch up with everyone, but took a look at the forecast early on so decided to stay at home . . . weather up here(north of Cheshire) was almost perfect, resulting in gardening duties. Determined to have a run out somewhere this week.Glad you all had fun, though

I hope Stu’s car was okay, & avoided the barriers?

Your spot on Marc it did, when I saw Stu, he was as white as his car !!

Hope the white Elise did NOT actually hit the barrier?

Slippery stuff!

Whee…hell of a spin for him that mate ! - touched the white line by the looks of it ?
