There will indeed!!
Thanks for everyones concerns today, im absolutely fine just a bit of a stiff neck thats all…
The car, well its no where near as bad as it first appeared it was going to be. How the hell ive managed to get away with no chassis, steering or suspension damage is beyond me… The front end of the car has been completely obliterated into bits no bigger than the size of a shoe box!! I have most of the parts i need to fix it, only thing it looks like i will be missing is a front crash structure (anyone got one as I’ve been told they are on back order??).
Again really sorry Russ, believe me I was looking forward to it just as much as you bud!
bugger … glad its all repairable
Glad everyone is ok, what happened Gav???
Thats a bloody good question Ben…
Basically i caught up to the back of a car at the end of main start/fininsh going probably going about 4-5 seconds a lap quicker but was not in a postion to overtake at this point. Down into Shell hairpin i go to overtake him but he decides to defend (this is friday test day not the actual race day btw).
Again, into knickerbrook chicane i go to overtake him and he defends again. As we come out the chicane i have the better drive up Clay Hill and he is given the blue flags and I hold out to the right waiting to get to druids to get past him. As we go over the crest of Clay Hill rather than him letting me past he decides to defend again at the last minute.
I have now had get out of the move and rather than hit him up the arse ive ended up putting a wheel on the grass to the right and spun into the barrier on the left, i wish i had of just hit him now as it would have probably been the reverse outcome (thats not me though). What a f@@king plonker the guys is, basically hasnt got the slightest clue of how to conduct himself on a race track. The annoying bit is I had clear sight of his eyes in his side view mirror all the way through and saw him do it deliberately…
That put us out for saturday as it was just too much to repair in such little time. After it happened im told its the same guy who has caused both the red flags in our earlier sessions. Being a test day the cicuit didnt want to know, didnt call him up all day, it was a case of FO.
Then during the first 20 minute ET race on saturday the same guy is being lapped by the leaders and being given the blue flags decides he wants to try and drag race Craig Denman down the back straight (who is lapping him) and put him off at Island bend, luckily for him he managed to keep it out of the barrier…
Someone is going to get hurt and have a big accident (ooh hang on a minute thats me…).
Sounds a bit of a nightmare Gav, bad luck fella.
Gutted for you guys just good that no injury and car was not as bad as thought.
Hellfire, Gavin, that sounds absolutely awful. Glad you survived to fight another day.
Kinell bud …
Just read this …
Don’t know what to say really …
Shocking Gav, really sorry to hear that.
Glad you’re fine.
Can you name and shame? I’d like to avoid the idiot.
Ian
Ps. Sorry for you too Russ.
No worries Gav, just glad you came out of it with no breakages to the body. Thanks very much for the chance to have another go - you are a legend Mate.
Very frustrated for you Gav, you can well do without that kind of performance from people, especially during the rehearsal.
I assume it was the 111r you were using.
I really sympathise with you Gav, the only incident I’ve ever had was a very similar one with a ‘test day racer’. Come to think of it, Russ was there (in his own car) that day too…maybe he’s cursed!
LOL, not everyone is like you, “Gentleman” Hibbert
Its not bad luck, just being in the wrong place at the wrong time…
Why do I think that may end up on your gravestone?!

Oh no, that’s shitty that really is. Sorry fella :_(
eh?
Have i missed something?
Nightmare Gav, really sorry to hear this. Did you go and have a word with him afterwards? If so what did he have to say for himself?

LOL, my last request is that my ashes are spread on the gravel trap at Druids, or should that be Abbey, or maybe Clearways…or…
