OOO'AR

I think the time has finally arrived to reluctantly move on my S1 Exige that I have had the good fortune to have been custodian of for the past 15 years

As a result of rather surprising recent 340r auction result I am going to put the car up for Auction - currently discussing with H&H - prob see what they are actually worth

Reasons for considering sale:

Put but 200 miles on this year :open_mouth:
Not getting any easier to get in and out of
Finance for racing next year

Keeping the 111s though

Keeping that spare VHPD as well Simon

Interesting decision that mate, keen to see where it leads…

It’s a shame but it’s not as if you are leaving the Lotus fold. Best of luck with the sale.

Great idea, an acquaintance of mine often puts cars through silverstone auctions as his mate has something to do with the running of it. He buys and restores mk1/mk2 escorts, elans etc and puts them in. Always does well too and I cannot say I am impressed by any of the cars he puts in. It would be very interesting to see the result as I would imagine if the current advertised price of cars is achieved then the current cars for sale will be snapped up quickly. Good luck and let us know when its up.

Well not unsurprisingly I have received a number of emails regarding this

A few minor issues to sort before its presented for sale  - will be up for auction early 2018

Sorry to hear this :frowning:

You still planning on racing in FF?

That’s the plan Ben - determined to get my act together over the winter

You being brave and going no reserve Simon :sunglasses:
I’d also consider Silverstones over H&H

Who said no reserve? Or have I missed a post somewhere or misread one?

Thanks for suggestion Chris

There would be a reserve on it

Found this site link on seloc Simon which is worth a look.

Not sure how they work the valuations but my current S1 is £55348 and Shrek is showing as £61083 and on both they have overestimated the actual mileage.

£57,622 for mine . . . with the “current” mileage similarly exaggerated

Been at NEC today - great to see a few fellow Exigers there  - Silverstone Auctions moved a RS500 Sierra Cossie for £125k & an Escort Cossie for north of £100k (inc premium) absolute madness :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Didn’t see what the 340R or the rather nice S1 49 Elise went for - both looked rather tasty

When interest rates are so low and affluent people have cash , it seems cars are like art.
Bubbles burst though , early 80’s investors had a kicking

With premium the Type 49 Elise sold for circa £23.5k

The 7k mileage 340R didn’t meet reserve and is currently on sale on Silverstone Auction website for £49.5k

75k. ?

Keep the car, you could end up paying for Michael Moyers trophies with your Exige money.

That Walter Hayes Trophy Final at Silverstone was as fine a race as you could wish to see - stuff F1

His business is near me and made my de-cat pipe and oil cooler. Michael and his business partner are top chaps. Well worth a call if you need anything fabricating. (JC WeldFab)

He takes no prisoners on the track  - great to see him win as he has not had the best of luck at the WHT in recent years - be good to see how he goes next year as he is doing the national series
