A tad impractical maybe, whats the price??

Oh, & whic Elise are they comparing the performance to

Tim.

35k apparently…

But to be honest, for the price, an Atom seems like a much better bet

Wash your mouth out - horrible things (Atoms, that is)!

I like it!

…horrible things (Atoms, that is)!

Really they look awesome, and EVO seem to like them, whats wrong with them, are they overly raw, or just a bit too frenzied?

David

C’mon now really…you should be one of the Lotus faithful by now

In which case NOTHING else matters

Admitting a total dislike of porkers & fast fiats is a good start. Liking a bloody kit car is very bad news indeed, & worthy of detention

Tim.

Ok, well Ferraris mean comparatively little to me, but Porsche… thats a different story, the 911 will always the archetypal sports car to me, and whilst not my favourite cars they will always be special.

Oh and as far as kit cars go…

David

They just don’t cut it for me. Bear in mind that depending upon spec you’re looking at between 33K & 42K. Not good enough to be an all out track car (Caterham/Radical do it better), totally impractical as a road/track car (Lotus/Caterham do it better), & the looks are of course subjective, but I think they’re horrible. Just because bloody Clarkson & EVO like them, they’re great “pub talk” cars, but they’re just not for me.

Just my 2c worth, & I don’t expect everyone to agree with me. I look at these things from my perspective, & what I want my “fun car” to do ie be okay on the road, ace on track, whilst being practical enough to get me anywhere without worrying about the weather stopping me doing what I want to do. Hence, Exige = perfection

Since I tend to ignore but absolutely everything Clarkson says concerning cars, it leaves EVO as my only real source of reference, thats why its so refreshing to hear the opinions of people who really know about cars and driving (namely you lot).

Because of my inexperience of actually driving cars it means that what I think about cars depends a lot on what they make me feel, thats why I love the Exige so much, even though it doesnt have the flair of a Ferrari or the exuberance of a Lambo, it has something that I dont think any other car has in the same way… purpose, everything about the Exige screams out that it was designed with driving at heart of it, not profits, Im sure that you all know what I mean, its the feeling you all got when you first saw one, you just knew it was made by people who love cars.

And thats one of the reasons I like the Atom, they were such small company to start with, who set out just wanting to build a car with the driver at the centre of it, and that, I think, is very cool…

David

Good answer *

However, for a total Lotus lover, not quite correct Evo likes porkers & those rally reps & spend far too much time telling everyone.

Ferraris are very overrated IMHO, & rely on myth perpepuated by the masses rather than reality.

Lambos are just for being what they are

But for a totally focussed driving machine…nobody else holds true to the originators philosophy quite like Lotus… of which the Exige is a fine but not the only example

My 2p

Tim.
*But well considered all the same

Two good/well considered answers, David & Tim

PS I also enjoy watching Top Gear (as entertainment), reading (most of!) EVO, & I’d also love to own a Porker GT3 RS

…I’d also love to own a Porker GT3 RS

Is that just because they do it in your colour these days?!

David, I’m with you. But look carefully at the information on the Atom, it just doesn’t handle as it should for a car of its weight. And that I’m afraid means it’s just not as good as a Lotus.

Ian

Bloody hell Pesk, that thing is horrible. lol.

Mind you I’m with you on the Atom front, I’m not a fan either.

After following one for a whole race at Snetterton and reeling him in loads on the bends, but then watching him disapear into the distance on the straights, I agree with Ian that they don’t handle that well.

reeling him in loads on the bends…

Nah, thats just down to the driver

David

Well, it got there in the end!

David

And you have to ask … why !!

“It’s come at last” might be a more fitting strapline given the manufacturer

That car needs a roof - in fact it badly needs a roof…
