Has any one any recommendations for Track Day Insurance.I’m looking for e/o cover as I’m more than happy with my current ’ Road’ insurer , and I want to keep the two things totally separate.
Any experience with claiming of trackday insurance companies appreciated ??
What you propose, is an expensive way of doing things - far better to have a specialised policy for the road which also includes trackday cover. eg via brokers such as Henderson Taylor 0161 437 7442 or http://www.lotusdriversclub.org.uk/news-1/lotus-insurance-scheme
Interestingly, I’ve seen a number of trackday accidents but never heard or read about anyone’s experience of claiming against any of the available polocies.
I thinks that 's my point, when I still raced no one had insurance, but in the event of an accident, I’ve known people drag the car onto the public highway , and call the RAC, I wouldn’t ever be able to hazard a guess what the next stage was…

Next stage = RAC/AA refusing to carry out recovery, nowadays. Trying to claim damage happened on the road will not wash with Insurance Co, & may well lead to prosecution for attempted fraud.
In 10 years, I’ve never heard of anyone having a problem claiming for trackday damage to their own car, provided they had the appropriate insurance in place.
As most on here know, use the right broker & your road policy will also cover you for trackdays, albeit with a larger excess in the event of trackday damage. IIRC my premium is around 500 pa with an annual mileage limit of 7500 - trackday excess is 1k. I am of course very old, & a very slow driver.

I think I can recall a quote from a few years ago that was 100 premium for every 1,000 insured and you had to take insurance to the current value of the vehicle. I can’t remember what the excess was set to…it was rather academic
I think it used to be 10 per 1K of cover, with a 10% excess. I have only used “one off” cover once, in 2007 when driving at Le Mans - at that time, only UK events were covered by my road policy.
Sorry Mike, still not sure what you mean. Are you saying that if you paid 60 Ins premium you could effectively claim up to a total of 7500 ie 10K cover minus excess 2500???
Having given it even more thought, I raced all over the UK and Europe for 15 years , and in all that time , one minor prang , at the right hander , after the start line at Pembrey , on a first lap.
So as I 'm nor racing , and only doing the odd selective trackday , I don’t think I’ll bother, I also don’t insure when I Hillclimb , doing 10/15 events a year…
One thing I’ve never understood at trackdays is if you waive your right to claim against anyother driver if you feel they are responsible for crashing into you?
I would expect this to be a common law right we all have, but in signing all the paperwork do we expressly give this right up?
