Older better spec vs newer worse spec?

Hi everyone

I think my exige s choice will come down to the following:

06MY 17k miles metallic red (can’t remember colour name) with zircon, touring and supersports pack

Vs

09MY 10k miles, chrome orange with aircon, touring and larini fitted.

The 09 will cost me more (approx 3 to 4k) and has less spec - but is the later dash, key fob, airbag dash etc etc.

What’s the consensus then? I do expect to do the odd track day but it’s probably a 90/10 split road/track.

Will i regret not buying the better technical spec or will the lack of the later model refinement annoy me in the older car?

Dont worry about the super sport, I had it on my old car, didnt bother on my new one. The suspension isnt as good as standard on the road anyway, plus there are much better options when you get good enough on track. The only thing I did spec was the sport seats.

its down to personal choice go with the one you think you will be happy with there is very little between them but if you go for the 09 it would be wise to check on the Db of the larini exhaust because they are loud.

If neither are what you really want, maybe wait? The car you want will be along soon. Fatcat waited for months and ended up with the exact spec he wanted.
The cost mostly is related to mileage as much as age on Exiges.

Very true Ade … I waited a whole year till the one I wanted came up (or as near as I could get to it )…

You waited a year for that one???

Having owned two cars with the early dash and one with the latter I would take the latter dash every time, much nicer once you have lived with it imvho.

Well I had a great test drive this morning - a 240PP MY10 car - burnt orange demonstrator. Leicester lent it to me for the morning so I could get a real feel of it - it’s only done 360 miles!

Anyway, now I’ve driven a later dash model I’m going to look at the MY06 car this saturday. It’s a 220hp obviously so want to see the difference too.

Thanks for the replies

Will they do a deal on that? With some haging and a bit of a loan you could have a nearly new one?

Not sure what the screen price is for the 240PP burnt orange demo, they’ve only just put it on the road.

I think it’s going to be a step too far for me financially though - I’m going to loose a bit on my 996Turbo p/x (only had it 3 months) and dont really want to bang loads more k into the deal as SWMBO will go mental.

From discussions on SELOC it appears probable that the 06 car is probably a lotus-registered car as it’s a very early 55 plate. Not sure of the reg but will delve into its history today when I see Andy at Stratstones.

Don’t they have to keep the demos for three months? Nothing to stop you having first option on it when it does come up though.

Personally I found a big difference between my old 220 and the 240pp, much more than I was expecting.

Ok - I’ll be interested to see the difference today then, I’ve not driven a 220 before.
