This is my first post on exiges.com and I’m waiting for my exige S1 (soon!!!)
some upgrades:
-sachs dampers
-4 pots calipers rear and front (nice!!)
-Qaife UCR and LSD. Ap racing clutch
-tuned valves and head
I wish to install an oil temperature gauge but dunno what sensor is required???
Seems to have 2 possibilities:
-sump plug sensor
-sensor mount near the oil filter (just replace a screw)
I`ve just fitted a SPA oil temp. and pressure guage, both censors fitted on the oil filter housing. The SPA has all the bits in the box apart from a pod to house the gauge.
In my case I installed the temp sensor in a modified oil drain plug (sold by Eliseparts) and the pressure sensor like Jonny, in the place where the orignal one was (oil filter pickup).
Yes it comes with the sensors and leads. Just make sure you specify how long the leads should be. Also the oil pressure sensor plug is a bit of a nightmare to pass through the gear cable hole. I had to take the plug apart to do it.
i fitted spa oil temp and pressure and used a sandwich plate on oil filter houseing as got elise part sump temp bung and didnt like the fact the prob is then in the oil just static oil in sump plug i feel i get better real time oil temp at filter

Interesting - I have heard some people suggest that the sump is the best place for the sensor, but I too would have thought that a sandwich plate at the filter is better as the oil flowing over the sensor is on its way to be pumped round the engine. Did you find the temperatures measured near the filter were significantly higher than from the sump? I should be finally getting round to fitting the Greddy sandwich plate on my car this weekend.
