Hi All

Couple of oil questions

  1. What engine oil is everyone using for S2’s and is everybody sticking to the Lotus rec 5-40 ?
  2. What gearbox oil is everyone using ?

Only ask as I will be visiting JSR before Oulton for various bits and bobs

I’m running mobil 1 5-40 full synthetic, it was recommended by CN’s. I’m not sure how much difference the breed of oil makes.

I do know from early learning experiences on my new build CVH fiesta race engine that you can seize it even with Mobil 1! Baffled sumps are pretty important even if you have the right oil and fill level. I suppose I should get an accusump for the exige.

I run Shell Helix 5/40 fully sync, seems to have done just fine over 80,000 miles.

I know that the factory uses Texaco Havolene engine oil when my car has been serviced there. No mention of oil grade on the invoices though.

Silkolene Pro S 5W-40 for me, expensive but worth it in my mind

I normally run silkolene pro S 5-40 as well :wink:
