Can anyone advise what sort of min and oil pressures they run on road/track?
I have a tfsi engine in my car and see around 4.5 bar pressure cold then around 1.5-2 hot (idle). Under full load though when hot it still sits at 4bar or just under. Just interested to know whether this is good/bad etc. The car runs a 19 row 235mm mocal in the offside side pod.
The one to worry about is the low pressure when the oil is hot. At idle you never want to see it below 1 bar and it should instantly rise to about 4 when the throttle is blipped.
Temperature wise, TFSI’s and 20VT’s the oil and water temps tend to rise and fall together. You obviously don’t want the water temp over mid 90’s and the oil should stay under 125.
In my opinion, Your IDEAL figures should be water in the high 70’s and oil at as close to 100 as you can get it. Those are both on track temperatures.
Thanks for this…been trying to find such a decent response. The oil temp on road reaches 75 deg and on track (with smaller cooler) it sat at 110 and dropped quickly when coasting. Water temp never goes over 75-80 no matter what I do!
