towards the end of my 1st track day of the year I noticed engine oil around the exit side of my intercooler. Removed pipe and there is quite a coating of engine oil inside. Have I got a problem???
Oil in ic is common …
Due to normal engine breathing I’m led to believe … catch can can help , I’ve not fitted one as it doesn’t worry Me unduly .
thanks jfk. Bit of a relief. funny I’ve not noticed it before as I have had car getting on 3 years now. I guess it is advisable to wash out pipes and intercooler now and then. Recon a bit of petrol should do the job and leave to dry before re fitting?
As mentioned, catch cans will help.
Yep it’s oil blown out your engine by the supercharger , it will coat your pipes and intercooler , not good , you need some catch cans , you will be amazed how much oil they catch .
I have the Sector111 ones and I have no oil in my pipes or intercooler at all since fitting them .
total agree with moomin
you need to get catch cans. you will be very supprised at the amount of oil they catch
OK guys…
Where and how are these fitted? Easy job?
Pete.
I keep meaning to get some of these at some point.

Really easy to fit , the ones I have use fixing holes that are already there on the engine , just a small bracket and a wing nut on the top , cut the pipes and connect the cans in line .
I have the proalloy ones, they are a must if you track your car IMHO get some soon
Thanks guys for the info, ordered from Sector 111. Not Cheap, especially when you add the delivery charge.
Looked at the one RLS sell for half the price but did not seem so well made or easy to remove for draining. I did look on proalloy web site but could not find anything, maybe I should have phoned them??

…and the import duty.
I’ve had the Saiko Michi catch cans on for about 10k miles.
About 120 ml of oil accumulates every 3k miles and the intercooler stays dry.
Take care,
