Oil in aftercooler piping

Hi all,

Just took my AC off to remove the ECU (Gotham upgrade!) and noticed what i’d call an excessive amount of oil in the IC piping on either side of the cooler. There was a small pool in the bottom. I did a search and can’t see too many posts on this, but beleive it’s not uncommon.

I presume it’s either the crank breather system being blocked (or the engine just breathes a lot of oil) of SC seals passing.

Thoughts?

I’d like to fit a catch can as this won’t be good for detonation etc, and also means it can be monitored. Has anyone fitted one, and which sort would be best?

Mine did the same!

I understand this is indeed normal

yes seen many sc exiges do the same…
Oil breather/catch can helps a lot

Yeah the same but sorted it with the QWKcans as in the link above , Radium do some really nice quality ones as well .

Thanks! Quite a shopping list i’m building up with you now

Will be in touch RE this and CF gear tunnel cover

THanks for all the replies

pro alloy catch can will fix this for you

There are many catch cans available, take your pick

Excess oil is simply burnt off when you give it some…
Such minute quantities won’t significantly affect octane in my view.
And this is the view of a very large manufacturer of alloy performance parts too !
