I want to s/c the car this year but noticed I don’t have any oil cooling. Firstly is it essential, and if so what option should I go for?
Cheers

Not essential for road use, easiest way to add oil cooling would be a laminova based solution adding in a new water rad at the same time.
Search my old threads for more info on what Ade said as that’s what i have done.

You’ll have a single oil cooler right? twin is needed for track IMHO. I think you can buy them from Lotus for 700 + fitting.
I have checked the front and can’t see any sign of an oil cooler. Both spaces at the front don’t have the rad in, so I am guessing it isn’t there. It’s a 2005 touring spec.
Hangar 111 have a twin kit for 1k plus fitting.
Hi, sent you a PM
Laminova will be just fine and a lot cheaper than the twin oil cooler design, you will only start to struggle if you up the HP too much past 250hp or so
I don’t really think an oil cooler is required for a road car imo. If you track you car, then I would make sure you get a single cooler installed (although twin prefered), or laminova as Ade suggested.
I’m only running on one oil cooler at the moment - too pikey to pay the riduculous price that Lotus wanted for a replacement rad! Trying to source a cheaper altenrative and more reliable rad at the moment.
Very easy to find out for sure .
Just connect a gauge … need not be permanent .but at least you’ll know for sure ?
quick question regards to the Laminova oil cooler? will it need a triple bypass rad or single uprated 1? ive got a bwr sc kit and doing a few trackdays a year and concern as ive no oil coolers at the mo…
If you are going to run the laminove I would add a tripple pass rad as well
