I’ve decided to change the oil cooler pipes in the Exiges and I thought it might be best to ask you guys for some advice before I start messing around… So is there anything I should look out for when carrying out this task?
Fasten the new line to the old one at the front of the car, then pull both through to the engine bay.
Well, that’s what the Edwards Boyz did with mine
I’ve seen AndyD’s posts and it looks thats the best way. I wonder how easy it is to get the sill off?
Sill off - don’t go there!
Easy to do as Pesky says and pull the new through with the old. Cut the fittings off the old first though and fit the fittings to the new hose after the hose has been pulled through.
Make sure the two pipes are NOT going to come apart when you pull them through !
One of mine was caught on the sill bonding material and I can tell you that having the two seperate half way is not where you want to be …
No way do you want to be taking the sills off …
Ok the sills are staying on, I haven’t got the new pipes yet so I going to pull the old out and leave some twisted rope in their place. I’m going to attatch the rope to the pipe with a lot of duct tape.
Failing to prepear, you are prepearing to fail…time to give it ago.
Easy job in the end, another job ticked off the list! Thanks for your help.
Fluffy - don’t supppose you took any photos as you went?
Sorry, didn’t take any photos. All I had to do was cut the ends off the oil pipes, stuff some blue rag up the pipes and seal with duct tape. Next I tied some blue rope around each pipe and covered it in more tape. Then I pulled the pipes from the back of the car until they got stuck, then went to the front and pushed and so on. Now I have blue rope instead of oiler cooler pipes. Another wieght saving tip.
Nice one - do you know what spec hose you will be replacing with?
I’m going down the Goodridge route. Not sure yet which pipes but they won’t be silver!
Think it will be Goodridge 910, 600 or 210 series. I’m going to see if JSRacing can supply all the parts. Maybe get JCweldfab in Wellingborough to make aan oil cooler.
