Ohlin 2 ways, R1R's and Geo.....

I knew my Exige didnt feel right…just got back from having my 2 way Ohlins fitted along with a fresh set of heatcycled R1Rs and geo and the car is totally transformed. Lots of turn in now and general all round ability massively improved, in a straight line, over rough sections of road, cornering, etc, etc. It’s so much better now.

I know I’m stating the obvious but had to share “my findings” i’m that chuffed.

Roll on some track days.

Who did the Geo ? I’m thinking of changing my wishbones for the Nitron ones with the Nitron hubs and a nice set of shocks this year.

Track club near Cambridge. Brilliant guys who really know their stuff looking after many Lotus racers cars.

Is this the first time you have used the R1R’s? If so please do keep us posted on your experience with them.

Considering a set of R1R’s on another set of wheels as an all round tyre. I just cant justify using the A048’s on the road, not safe to exploit them and a bit of a waste of money imo. Best saved for the track I rekon. My guess is they are not much cheaper but if they wear better they would still ultimately be better value.

Cheers.

My drive home was some 110 miles in pouring rain and the r1r’s were night and day better than the a048’s. Slightly softer sidewalls so possibly less feel when pushing hard into a corner but loads more damp weather grip. I’ll let you know about wear and tear in a thousand miles (at my rate that’ll be mid feb).

I bought new wheels from seriously at the end of last year so I now have R1Rs on original wheels and 48s on the new ones

Haven’t used them much in the wet yet although I have car today (mrs selfishly wanted to use both normal cars today!) and it is wet!!!

Just need to avoid all the fucking pot holes now!!!
