5 miles out today and a rather sudden disturbing noise from the engine area with a complete stop - retrieved on the trailer - took plugs out and engine still seems to be turning freely by hand - fingers crossed more investigation tomorrow
Fingers crossed. Bottom pulley?
Toes crossed for added crossness.
Really hope its not serious!
Honestly I give you guardianship of my old engine and look what you do
Oh dear, indeed. Hope you get it sorted for Anglesey
I was scrolling through for that comment
Hope it’s a cheap easy fix Simon
You really should have checked the vernier bolts Ben. tsk - looks like one has worked loose
Going to take the head off - not that it needs to come off - its just that I have a few hours to spare
I’ll happily make you a sensible offer for it as it stands!
If that motor ever changes hands again I hope it will be for me to buy it back again!
Have fun tinkering Simon
You’re welcome to the motor - I only want the rolling shell
Unfortunately for you I don’t think Simon will ever sell up…
Indeed Ben - I would never sell
Pleased to report that after an engine strip down and a little TLC and horsewhispering ( coupled with a few late nights in the garage with only a bottle of Sauv Blanc for company) the Silver Machine appears now to back in rude health
Fantastic news Simon! Looking forwards to seeing it on song next month
Ben your VHPD keeps on giving, btw whoever rebuilt it last time did an absolutely cracking job
To my best knowledge it never had rebuild prior to you buying it. Glad you’re looking after it and that’s it still strong
Great result
Great news! Mrs T swears by the restorative properties of Sauv Blanc so it obviously works for you too!
Cheers chaps - took t’Exige out early doors this morning into the Peak District - absolutely faultless - what cracking motors these cars are

Here here.!
