Oh Clutchin Hell

Took it out for a short blast this morning before meeting up for a run. Just before I was due to meet up the clutch pedal went very soft and did not disengage. Very willing AA man arrived in less than half an hour and bled the system, which cured the problem for about 6 miles before it went again. Any Ideas

Lotus assist trailered my car to JCT600 this afternoon. I learnt from some Elise owners that this is not an unknown problem.Oh by the way my Air Con pipe is fractured as well (as reported by several members in another thread).Am I the only one who is growing increasingly concerned that we all share the same problems? This to me suggests fundamental faults. I still have ten month warranty left, if Lotus last that long, but then what?I will keep you posted on the clutch when I know more.

I think the common feeling is that if they can get a part that does the job 98% of the time for half the price, they will.

All right I am confused now. [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/confused.gif[/image] I have spoken to JCT600 and they say that the friction material on the clutch had disintegrated. Right surely this would cause a total loss of drive. I had the opposite problem. I couldnt disengage the clutch to the extent that when I reached a junction I had to stall the car and then pull out in 1st on the starter motor until the engine fired. Not the signs you would expect from a disintegrated clutch, and why did it temporally cure when the system was bled. Please someone explain.By the way JCT say that this is the second with exactly the same symptoms so I am sorry but be prepared to be infected [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/rolleyes.gif[/image]
