A little column on pg 17 of the latest EVO mag had some detail on the S2, including the prices of ‘Performance Pack’ and forged alloys (which I discovered today are probably made in Estonia in one of the world’s only three automotive alloy forging facilities…I digress). At the end of the short column it states:
“Further Exige tweaks are on the way, including adjustable suspension, a revised diff and new exhausts. Expect them to be marketed through Lotus Sport.”
Interesting I thought. I wonder what the Diff is all about?
So far the Lotus Sport aftermarkets are.
SAFETY - FIA approved 6 point roll cage, drivers seat and 6 point harness. Fire extinguisher and kill switch assemblies.
PERFORMANCE - Uprated clutch assembly, Limited Slip Diff, Accusump oil control system.
HANDLING - 2-way adjustable dampers, adjustable front anti-roll bar.
Bumpf states for track use only and not covered by standard manufacturer’s vehicle warrenty.
But you try and find out any prices.
John
The wheels on the S2 Exige are the same wheels that are coming on the US car when ordered with the Sport Package. The US car when ordered with the sport package is basically an Exige with out the rear spoiler, roof and a few other minor bits. They will perform pretty much the same!!!

The most important difference are the suspension changes, does it have those?
I think it is… i’m pretty sure Gavan Kershaw spent a lot of time with the S2 exige… and i can’t imagine that the only thing that changed was the spring and damper rates, the mounts might even be slightly different but i don’t really know.
I ask as I’ve ‘done the dirty’ & gone & bought a 111R…complete with a set of S2 Exige wheels/tyres
I know it will not have all the grip/poise etc of the Exige, but its the best compromise I could manage while still getting my other half in the car for a blast
Don’t suppose it’ll show its true colours 'til we meet on a trackday . We’ll see sometime after the running in period
As a lifelong Lotus devotee, I’m sure it’ll not disappoint.I don’t even suppose you & me will have a repeat conversation on the steps of LRV discussing dodgy air con
Just thinking though, will just an engine/gearbox/wheels & tyres qualify for continued membership of this bbs
