Odd clutch wear.

I removed the clutch from my car a while ago as it started slipping. It was a fidanza 4 puck ceramic thing, never really got on with it but thats besides the point.

When I got the plate out I noticed it had completely worn down on one side, pressure plate side, right down to the rivets. It made quite a mess of the pressure plate, looked like a potato field! The flywheel side still had about 2.5-3mm of meat left, I’ll measure it to be sure but I would guess a new one wouldn’t have had much more than that.

There were no marks on the flywheel at all to suggest it sticking/binding on.I replaced it with a lightweight version anyway as I had the box off and expected to see some damaged on it.

Anyone seen this happen or have any idea why it might have done that?

Yes I have seen that happen. Make sure you lube the splines on your input shaft before fitting the new one.

Hmm, I think I did, it was a while ago now. Just saw the old clutch on the garage floor and thought I would ask the question.

I’ll have a look to see if its doing the same when the box comes off next month, I’m not surprised that it happens but was surprised at the degree that it had.
