Having my car fitted with a new intercooler on thursday , im looking at the OBD2 readers to get some idea just how well the new intercooler works , i have seen a few Iphone wifi ones , has anyone got one of these and will it log IATs on an 08 S240 ?
yes it will
The obd2 readers will only pick up the MAF intake sensor, you would need a special diagnostic tool to read the TMAP sensor…
You could install a intercooler temp gauge that will show before and after temps.
I have seen somewhere a thread that I can’t find again , it could be on seloc , a bloke that had a PC OBD2 reader that logged his supercharger air temps and also what his engine was doing to respond to high or low intercooler temps . I remember the thread because of how rubbish it showed the std interccoler to be and the ECU was pulling back the engine . .
I’d love to know more about the iphone wifi ones.
Ok, for a car that came with a SC (i.e. “S”) the IAT from the OBD port will give you the reading post IC for a car with an aftermarket SC or is still N/A you will only get the reading (as Frank says) from the MAF.
What you need is an OBD reader that will log as well (mine doesn’t) not sure which ones do, but I suspect the iPhone based ones will.
yep…the iPhone/iPod touch one does. I have a Kiwi OBDII wifi adaptor, which connects to my iPod. The app I use is “Rev” and it shows multiple parameters from the ECU, including the IAT post IC ! I added extra IC cooling ducts from the sidepods and ventilators on the IC and the result is impressive ! (on a Exige S 240 performance pack)

I have also seen the Innovate motorsport OT-2 , I think I will go for the kiwi as I know it will work.
I bought the kiwi wifi thingy off of ebay yesterday for 113 and it’s turned up today. Gonna download the Rev app today and have a play at the weekend and let you all know how i get on.
