just got back from a long weekend at the nurburgring. maddness really. it was the ferrari owners weekend and also a round of the castrol haugg cup on saturday, and more importantly a session on the nord schleife every day. so a full weekend of racing entertainment and great cars everywhere. as i was paying for gas at the gas station next to the 'ring the cashier said after a couple of new ferrari scagletti’s(whatever it is) roared away, he nodded to the exige and said, “lotus exige’s are a much better”. i have to agree. we watched the old and new f1 cars whizzing around the grand prix circuit on saturday afternoon. these are all private owners, full ferrari crews running around the cars, and then owners having sudo races on the track. bucky lastards…
anyway, if anyone has not had a few laps of the old circuit then you are missing something. i think cadwell park is the only comparative circuit in the uk. i did 10 laps over the weekend, 125 miles. 4 on friday, 4 on sat and did only two on sunday until play was stopped to pick up three cars and three motorbikers, i fear something terrible has happened as the cops turned up too. it is so dangerous there especially for bikes with damp bits on the track.
there are great technical bits at the beginning and then very fast bits with lost of bumps and wobbles and no run off. just like the playstation! I need new wheel arch liners now, totally smashed up in the fronts. i was chatting with a very nice chap who owns an exige. not an exiger btw. i showed him the liner damage and he told me to be very careful, as the oil lines run over the liner and he rubbed through his oil lines and lost an engine!! so i will be tie-wrapping the lines onto the side of the chassis away from potential harm. i would also like another 100 horsepower to get up the hill faster after bergwerk corner. it is very scary how fast some of the porsche racers come past.
anyway here is a pic of me barreling around the left hander going towards the small karossel. yeee haaaa.
