Does anyone have a good lap time for the Nurburgring in a standard S2? I have done a few searches and can’t find much.
I found 8:32, and even given that it’s a fast track with a few hills I thought the N/A car would be a bit quicker than this… anyone?
sport auto, the best german car mag, did a test of the S2 Exige and the VX220 Turbo (Opel Speedster Turbo) in Aug '04
The times were:
Exige 8.32
VXT 8.34
They also said that there wasn’t really much difference between an Exige and a 111R
Thats not a bad time, remember that many of the times discussed in forums are bridge to gantry times whilst the sport auto time is a complete lap.
Its quicker than i have seen the ring taxi go, which is not bad when you consider how long you sit with your foot on the floor at the ring.
to do sub 8 minute laps you need a well balanced car with 170 Mph top speeds
Some thing like the BMW CSL which is a great Ring car. with 7.50 laps.
i reckon an exige s with the 282 komo tec kit, optimized suspension geometry and ohlins/nitrons would have a chance of breaking 8 mins.
I realize that after adding power and upgrading the suspension lots of cars could maybe also do it…

Rubbish.
I can do a sub 8min in my car BTG which means it is about 25sec short of a full 8min lap. A SC Honda would be under 8min.
