Nurburg noise limit?

Thinking about popping to the 'ring with some mates in Sept and wondered if there was a noise limit there?

yes I know I could probably find the answer from scouring the net but I’m an IT leper and just cant…

I’d be more worried about lack of insurance cover for that place - too many total tw@ts on the public days.

Never seen any testing on the Nordschleife, but I believe that it goes on. Register on Northloop and I am sure someone will be able to give you more info on it. If you are going in Sept then I would recommend the RSR Lotus only track day as last year I did a number of laps where I only saw a couple of cars.

I know on the GP track last year the limit was 93db and I was thinking no way, then the marshall said either 3 or 4K for static test…ha ha.

I have been to the GP track this Monday.

My car is equipped with a 2Bular 8x24" GT3 and Decat.

I didn’t see the black flag, so I guess you will be fine!

Yup I’d be more worried about insurance than noise. Many drivers on a crusade for the fastest lap regardless of what is in front of them. Best time to do laps is early morning as it tends to get very busy by lunch time which normally results in the track being closed for several hours due to track incidents.

I was thinking about taking the eurotunnel sunday night, staying near the track and being there bright and early monday morning for a bit of track driving. Surely weekdays are a lot quieter than weekends.

Bit worried about the noise limit now…my large bore 8x24 with unsilenced decat is so so loud…much louder than I thought it would be. Any idea how to get it noise checked before i go?

I cant do a lotus only day as I’m going with a mixed bunch (early 911, 80’s M3, Atom and RS4).

like I said, I have the same setup and it was fine last monday on the GP track.
Tomorrow I will be going back to the Ring and do a few laps on the Nordschleife.
I’ll let you know if I encounter problems with the noise, though I’m confident I won’t.

95db last time i went last year only person that got stopped with us was a scubby with 115db

just found out…i have a 7x24 rear box (u’d think i know instantly wouldnt you) plus my car is supercharged making it louder still…oh dear i can see me buying a decibel meter next wkend

just returned. superb day with dry weather and not much traffic (for a saturday).
No issues with the exhaust noise

cheers for the update.

My car made 101 db at Anglesey last year with a 2bular 3" 7x24 GT3. Since chanaged to 8x24 because it was too loud for most tracks. All depends really at what rpm they do the static test at.

Late reply but thought it might be handy, I got checked when i was at the ring. They do carry out random checks and the noise tests are static and from what I remember it was at half of your engines capable rpm. My S has a Lotus stage 2 and it was just ok. I was beginning to panic thinking I’d driven 600 miles for nothing. I was there on one of the busiest days of the year and just timed made sure I was there for 8am and I got a couple of clear laps.
