Sounds similar to an experience I had a few years back in my Fiat Coupe Turbo days.
Making quick progress down the M40 at way above banning speeds, but driving with consideration, i.e. using all the lanes (correctly ) and slowing when catching other cars, not hassling them, then back upto speed once clear.
Noticed the unmarked car behind me but too late.
Now I had been doing 115mph+ at times, but they waited until I hit traffic before switching on the VASCAR, clocked me at 98mph . They had to book me, but just got 3pts 40 at the time, I knew of people getting caught at similar speeds getting bans. They told me everything I did was spot on except I was going too fast, they would have let me off at 85-stopped and a talking to for 90 but over 95 they had to book me but did mention the traffic situation .
Thing is until a few weeks ago that was the last time (Aug 98) I was stopped by a copper in the uk (had a couple of no front plate questions in France though), but a few weeks ago I got 3 points and a 60 fine, caught by a bloody camera. Not doing anything dangerous, just upped the speed to make a safe pass and didn’t know it was there (In the bloody X-Trail as well). If it had been a copper in a car I’d have probably got a talking to at most but no I ended up with points. Not complaining about the points, I was speeding and I got caught, tough break, but there is no judgement issue anymore, big downside in this country IMHO.

or a copy of the vid?
What a nice tale with a hpyy ending.
Surprised you handed over your licence, I thought that was a bit of a no-no at the road side.

I’m pretty sure it’s THE LAW to have all your docs with you when driving. i.e Driving Lic’ Insurance, MOT and possibly ‘log book’ (or whatever it’s called now).
Again I think the traffic chappies get smartie points (yes that’s real targeted points measuring performance) to give out producers. If you have your docs with you they cant issue a producer. So if you want to get your own back and can be arsed carry everything…
I thought about asking for the vid coz it was ace but her crap overtake upto a blind bend at 87mph with a learner at the front of the line of traffic, and her as a result forcing a disco off the opposite carriageway fully onto the footway - yes thats how bad it was - just to catch me not doing anything wrong!!!(I forgot to mention that didn’t I) possibly would not be the best thing to have in the public domain!!!
No thats why you get a producer if you dont have it with you. Have 7 days to produce documents at a police station.
You wanna see the looks you get when you drive your car up the road with no front or rear clams on!!
All in the name of testing of course!
I don’t suppose “really they must have just fallen off officer” would work for you then!
To be fair I only did it once and I didn’t get stopped, thank god!
numberplate aside, is bodywork absolutely necessary for the roag regs?
I guess not, but as in our case the bodywork holds the lights and stuff on, then yeah I reckon ya gotta have it!!!
numberplate aside, is bodywork absolutely necessary for the roag regs?
I would think so - part of its job is to protect others from the sharp edges of all the bits inside the bodywork…
