Not a sexy question...

but for the third time in 2 days my exige won’t start and I was hoping someone could give me some ideas as to why.

I drove the car on Monday evening for 5/6 miles, then left it on the drive until yesterday morning. Got up early yesterday for a trackday at Bedford and the car wouldn’t start, when I pressed the starter button I just got a clicking sound. Anyway, the AA came round and jump started it, but didn’t do a battery check as I was in a hurry to get going.

Car then ran faultlessly at Bedford all day (had a great day) and started on demand … until with the car packed up for the run home it wouldn’t start again! Got a push start, refilled at the nearest shell and it started ok there, so I thought it was just something I need to mention when I get the thing serviced in january.

But just tried to start it again, and it isn’t. I’m not getting clicking noises either, rather a higher pitched hum, the imobiliser light flashing and the rev counter going up to 4k, then the speedo to about 90, before resetting to 0. There’s power for the lights, central locking, imobiliser but not enough into the 12V socket to power a tyre inflator. Does anyone have any ideas what’s the cause? I will have to take it to the dealer (warranty has just expired too :frowning: ) and I want to get some idea how much my wallet is going to hurt.
Dead battery? Alternator? Anything else?

Thanks Will

could be loose battery terminal or a bad earth.

Bad earth, loose terminal, and an aged battery.

i would hazzard a guess at a dying battery…

Wet socks in the intake…dude get a new battery.

battery would be my guess, mine was similar when it failed :frowning:

Thanks all. Will be fitting a new battery this coming weekend.

dead battery

now you have an excuse to fit a light weight battery

Time for a good lightweight battery…

I’ve bought a bosch silver from Halfords. The car lives on my drive and there’s no option to either trickle charge it or disconnect the battery, so a motorsport one is not an option.
