Happened on a Walshy day very sideways at 90mph (better than something boring like tripping over the cat I spose ).
Not really sure what happened but I think since Andy had driven before me, seat was a bit too forward and I had not noticed. Doing the high-speed bend, turning in (left), back stepped out and it required more than an arm full of opposite lock and I over-rotated and compressed my wrist…ouch. I did make it round though
Just got a temporary cast until I see the specialist on Weds. Then the potential of 8-12 weeks in plaster, the nurse told me I can choose a colour though
Yes my first child is due in 3weeks. Yes my car has just been Honda’d and the Walshy day was the first event I had done in it. Just cancelled going to Brunty tomorrow. Won’t be driving if I do go to Bedford weekend after that. Car is finally fit and now I am not.
Not especially happy about it
Buying a new camera cheered me up a little bit,…1DmkII me up …using it is a bit challenging though
Regardless very excited about imminent baby arrival.
BTW to save someone the energy of posting the question,…yes it is my wanking hand …heard that one a few times now…
Edited to say my woes look a bit trivial compared to the post from our newest member Mav. Welcome btw Mav,…nice bit of perspective for me.
Gutted for you mate, hope it gets better soon
Congrats about the imminent birth, hope all goes well.
Are you still coming to brunters tomorrow to be a passenger?
Sorry to hear that mate, but I reckon it was a wanking injury!! I mean who would go into that much detail and post pics and everything trying to lay down a cover storey. lol
lol - thanks Sean, you’re right of course, you’ve blown my cover
No Dave I won’t be there, got a load of baby prep stuff to get through and it takes twice as long getting the bus or walking (that’s walking with an l before someone tries to be funny ). Real shame as I was looking forward to it.
Gonna try and get to Bedford on B/H Monday though.
I’ve just given up on Brunty too. Found a screw in my tire at 5pm this arvo. The guy that was coming to fix it never showed.
Hey Ben, what’ya doing for Sunday lunch? As I was going up’north the rest of family are off to the outlaws for a few days, starting with a slap up roast. So no car, lonely and hungry!
Ian, I will throw a spare rear wheel in the van with an A048 on and you can still come tomorrow. Let me know if you want to. To be honest I could throw a complete set in for you, and you could drive there on your road wheels and use one of my sets if you like.
Cheers Sean, I had thought of that and nearly called you earlier but the problem is to get the car there I need at least one whole set of wheels/tyres! The Rimstocks have very illegal 39s on (as in 12 points worth, see the thread in places type touch) and I’m a rear short on the Speedlines. If I’d discovered this morning/earlier I’d have had a chance to be more creative (e.g get a fresh set of 39s put on, fix the 48, go and steal a wheel off Ben, etc).
Sorry to hear that Ben, as you say in the scheme of things trivial towards Mav or Mike S’s (hopefully past) problems. But hey join the club 10 weeks ago I came off the push bike after hitting a patch of diesel, unfortunatley for me I was balls out on a fast descent. Upshot, face hit the tarmac first swiftly followed by elbow then most other parts of my anatomy. Brief gory details, 5 fractures in my face, shattered radial head (elbow), fractured radial and a hole im my leg big enough to store a couple of inner tubes in . So right (yes I’m also right handed) arm a pile of shite at the moment, still not allowed to drive which with work plus on average 6 hospital appointments a week for physio etc is a real drag… Doing everything takes an age and I realy feel for you with the new arrival in mind but all I can say is keep your spirits up, I was very down following the original prognosis but came to realise its not the end of the world and best to be posotive, I’m convinced things improve quicker that way. Anyway its not all bad news, after a few times with your left hand it becomes second nature (or so the nurses took great pleasure in advising me ). Good luck for this week, may find its not as bad as you fear.
