non super charge exige

Hi, just been looking in some topics in the forums and seen like 95% of people on here have a exige s. am I missing out on anything as looking to start to mod my exige when back from my 6 month deployment and so dont know where to start apart from weight reduction.

Dont worry too much about not having an “S” …A standard N/A car can go pretty bloomin fast around the right circuit in the right hands …

Probable first performance mod would be a decent set of dampers…

… I guess Uncle P will say that before the dampers should come “tuition” … and as much as I hate to admit it … He’s probably right … The Git !!

 James what you’ll find is tossers generally own or purchase Exiges S’s… Just kidding, S1 owners…lol

Seriously mate it’s a great place to start. You can lighten the car no end whilst improve induction, BHP and torque. The difference between NA and 220 is negligible IMO and you’ll learn better control and improve your track skill. Tweaking and upgrading suspension and brakes are the best place to start as well as camber and reducing the cam change to 5750. When thats all done and youre mastered lots of tracks having taken lots of tuition you can either resell then buy a car with more power or if attached easily upgrade your own.

Then again if its just mainly a road carbuy and S

NA ROCKS :sunglasses:

Welcome home mate.

I’m completely with Jonny on those thoughts. Upgrade to some PF or Pagid brake pads, fit a set of Ohlins or Nitron dampers then have a geometry setup.

I don’t think there’s a huge amount of difference in lap times between the S and the N/A.

I must admit it’s a different story with the S1 supercharged / turbo boys or the 211’s, they have significantly more pace. At the end of the day there’s always something faster than you coming out to play on track days. An N/A still puts a huge smile on your face.

Thanks for the replys, defo thinking about bring the cam change down as want that smile on my face brought foward every time i go past 6200. just change my pads was told to get yellow stuff, but not happy with them to be honest so will change then for something better next time round, dampers i will have a looking into, just been looking at IGT induction and decat.

A stiffer front roll bar is a cheap way to better body control as well

Hi There I recently fitted the TRD 255cup airbox to my N/A, it’s a bargain and sounds great you can order the TRD Part A127E6002F from a dealer for 26 and a K&N off eBay for about 40, I can’t recomend it enough

In terms of pads, I would certainly recommend the Carbone Lorraine pads - I have RC6’s (which are probably overkill for just road use), but I am told the RC5+ are an excellent compromise for a road car. Mine are excellent, won’t be buying anything else. Only squeal a bit on the road when you are about to stop in the last 2-3 metres.

I’d skip the decat, just makes it sounds a bit rough and does nothing to help the engine. ITG is a lovely bit of bling but it’s largely hidden so skip the carbon option, they all sound the same.

Completely agree with the cam change, did mine last year. Makes such a difference on road and on track.

Second the Carbon Lorraine pads, I’ve just put a set of RC5+ on and for the road they are great. Don’t take any real heating up and very, very effective. Only really worked them hard a couple of times so far and they feel very strong so expecting them to be as good as previous pads on track.

so on induction what is one to get then, dont really want a K&N or piper cross as reminds me to much of being a boy racer with that brand, did looking into the Hurrican, some people have gave it a good review and some did not,. when fitting the induction i take it it will be best to do the remap then so it all fits in together or does that not matter.

I doubt you’ll get much gain with induction on a NA engine.

I have the K&N apollo kit on my SC engine and it definitely makes a difference when the filter is clean vs when its dirty. More pull low down and rev’s more freely not to mention the supercharger whine is more noticeable. Replacement filters are like 35 once they become unusable after they’ve been washed a few times.

If you use the Lotus Sport one no remap required, plus I have no issues running all the way to 300hp with mine, so it is future proof as well

I have the ITG Maxogen, for me it’s sounds the biz…it’s the old Darth Vader quote again but sounds awesome just blipping the throttle and a significantly improved bang on cam  I also have a decat, I find power delivery smoother and the throttle response better but I also have a full 2Bular GT3 system and the GT Spec reflash (6500 to 5750) from Hanger111. I do get a gain, but I do have a larger spec system.

Jonny which 2bular manifold are you running?

421

Jonny, you also have a decat pipe? I suppose your car is LOUD with the ITG

I put the cat back on soon after

Seriously Joel it’s not that bad…there is not much difference with or with out the 200 cell cat on.

I run the same set as Jonny bar the manifold (mine is standard) I fitted a de-cat on Monday and would say it makes the exhaust note slightly deeper but not any louder, the biggest difference has been fitting the lotus sport TRD air box that makes the cam change very pronounced  but the whole set up is a lot quiter than than the stage 2 I used to run

I had the stage 2 on my elise 111r did like the sound of it,got the quick silver exhuast now on the exige and think the tone of that sounds so much better, loud thou.
