There is a very annoying rattling sound coming from the passenger side of the roof on my Exige. It is coming from where the roof connects to the rear of the car and sounds like plastic rubbing on plastic with something else rattling around. I have had the guys at the Lotus garage look at it and they have had the roof off and ‘adjusted’ the mounitngs or something, but now its even worse than it was before. If I push upwards on the roof from inside then the sound reduces which suggests ot me that something is just loose. I’m going to take it back to the garage next week but before I do has anyone got any advice on how to fix this or what to look for?
common problem on earlier Exiges although i think fixed on the '07 model which has a centre clamp holding the roof at the engine end, if that makes sense. On my 54 plate is took a bit of adjusting an modified brackets to fix the sound (which was a knocking/creaking type thing) - official Lotus fix so it should be well documented.
Thanks, mine’s a 55 plate Cup, and I think that’s the mod the garage is supposed to have done…the chief mechanic wasn’t in when I picked up the car so I didn’t get a chance to talk to them about the job, guess its back to the dealer again.
