I’ve just had my brake pads upgraded from standard to pagid RS 4-2s. First impression was really good, but then I tried giving them a good test…
When the ABS activates, I get a loud ‘chattering’ from the front left corner of the car. Is this normal? I’ve never noticed anything like that previously, but then I don’t tend to activate the ABS very often.
Is the ABS unit towards the front left of the car? I can’t tell if the sound is coming from that, or maybe the pads aren’t located in the calipers properly
Since changing my pads to 1144 and sorting the fluid etc I’ve found I often get a chatter and a noticeable “boing” from the underside of the dash if the ABS kicks in.
Apparently this is quite normal, ie. TADTS

Firstly, hope you are fit & well
The noise is probably just the pads “rattling”. As they are “competition” spec, they are slightly smaller than “road” spec, to allow for expansion when hot. You can get anti rattle pads from Eliseparts.
Thanks chaps. Yes I’m doing well Pesky. Hope you’re happy and healthy too.
I remember the pads rattling on my S1 when not touching the brakes, but I didn’t know they could rattle when the ABS is activated. Odd that it’s only one corner, but I guess as there’s just a little more play on one of the pads.

Now I didn’t know that - must measure a set of each to see the difference…you are a mine of information
