Noise levels - your experiences

I found the Quicksilver exhaust system on my Exige to test static at 102db.

I am now concerned about passing noise checks at circuits. My next trackday is at Croft at 87db driveby.

In your experience am I going to have problems at this level? Is it possible to predict or do I need to get a driveby test done before?

Whenever I’ve been to Croft they’ve done a static test - has this changed, Damon?

Also, although advertised as “open pitlane”, they’ve always restricted it to a max of 15 cars on track at a time. Again, this may now have changed?

From LOT site…

Length: 2.1 miles
Noise limit: 98db driveby at trackside
Format: Sesssions - 3 groups in 20 mins sessions
Price: 130

Nearly as strict as Donny now I am afraid.

My quest for more power also turned into a quest to be quiet.

Car: Exige S
Std manifold
Sports CAT 2bular
7x18" straight thru, thru diffuser. 2bular

Too loud to go anywhere with sound police was way over 100db

7x24" straight thru, thru diffuser. 2bular

Ok for static at 5500rpm 94db failed drive by at Bedford at 88.2db for a limit of 87.5db

Std manifold
Sports CAT 2bular
8x24" 3inch bore straight thru, GT3 style thru rear panel. 2bular

Not tested yet on track, but it is very quiet almost too quiet but it should be fine for even the worst tracks

Hope this helps

My standard exhaust and pipercross induction has measured anywhere between 92 (castlecoombe) and 96 (snetterton) static. Never had a prob at donny or bedford drive-by’s though.
Not much help apart from suggesting you avoid buying an induction kit before sorting your exhaust probs.

Never sure about the testing at Snetterton, they seem to stick their probe right up the exhaust tip.

What’s yours like Will, it’s a one off isn’t it?

Damon that exhaust of yours has got to be over 98db’s, but fingers crossed mate. If you go with Book-a-Track or Circuit Days they’ll give you the info should you ask. Donny staff don’t like what they do and to be fair will try to get you back out one way or another. They will also do the same and you can bet your life whatever they come back with will be smack on!

Zorst is going to come off and I’ll be speaking to Jim @ 2tublar this week, although I doubt it will be ready for Croft so may cancel that.

Send him my regards, fitted my GT3 last week What you going for? Oh and also his eliminator kit is quite bloody excellent!

Have to say guy’s that I’m really dissappointed with 2Bular. I’ve had a GT3 8" on order for almost a month now with lots of emails and phone calls yet no exhaust just excuses. Fair play Jim’s busy but I’m not going to wait another 4 weeks for something which may not arrive.

It WILL arrive, so you don’t need to worry on that score.

Demand is obviously greater than what Jim can supply, but I don’t know anyone who has been dissappointed with the finished product.

^^^^^ What he said^^^^^^
if you have a date you absolutely must have it by, let Jim know that can help

2tbular quality superb…almost art…Jim is busy though…give him your "must Have "date…he usually obliges.
