Went out in the Exige today and it appears to have developed a tapping noise from the front. The sound is simalar to a loose wheel weight catching the caliper which is what i first thought.
Interestingly if I touch the brakes very slightly the noise disappears.
I’ve had the wheels off and nothings loose that I can see?
The brakes are 300 miles old with ds2500 pads.
The sound does speed-up and slow down with the wheel rotation.
Bloody hell Ben, next thing you’ll be advising what to do with engine problems!!
In all seriousness, Ben’s probably right. Depending on the caliper 2/4 pot, you can tighten the retaining springs and fit buffer pads to the top of the caliper to stop this. All the uprated pads are slightly smaller, to allow for heat expansion. Some more than others!
Steady! I actually remember having exactly the same noise and you asking me if it went away with a little bit of brake pressure and telling it was rattling pads. Mine were rattling like a bastard the other day,…its amazing that over the din you can still tell when it starts making a new noise.
Had it all stripped down tonight and nothing looks a miss.
On the plus side found What i guess is the resistor pack floating around above the arch liner loose. Not sure thats right after the clams just been off for the recall.
